Stem Wall Concrete Slab

Dave shares his design method of pouring a concrete block stem wall so as to make a strong connection with the concrete slab pored at the top of the stem wal.

Each row of cinder blocks is laid in turn before the concrete is poured. Finally a slab is poured to the desired level. Predominantly constructed concrete footings with masonry walls they rise above the ground level to provide a raised platform for placing the building slab. Stem wall stem wall slabs are constructed in a multi part process where a footer is poured at virgin ground level then blocks are laid forming a wall up to the finished slab elevation.

This is done at the same time as the concrete slab that tops the foundation. The wall is often constructed with the use of concrete and steel and works with the foundational slab to create a solid basis for the building. Stem walls are supporting structures that are used as a means of joining the foundation of a building with the vertical walls constructed on the foundation. Stem walls are part of the building supporting structures and they are situated in the joint between the foundation of the house and the house walls.

This type of foundation is much more stable when fill dirt is required achieve the final build elevation. Stem walls are structures that are used to connect the foundation of a building to its walls. The key difference in this build type is the use of stem walls. With a stem wall foundation the concrete is poured in multiple stages.

The first of these is to build a stem wall of concrete blocks up to the desired slab level. The structures require three components for their construction a poured slab a foundation wall and a spread footing. They are made from rows of concrete blocks sometimes from bricks and are reinforced with steel components and works together with the foundational slab. To construct a stem wall the first step is to clear the site.

Then the fill dirt is added and compacted. Depending on the building the stem wall is usually built to the height of three cinder blocks. The stem wall on a concrete foundation is essentially the supporting wall that joins the foundation of a building to the vertical walls of the structure that is constructed atop the foundation.
